Making a fruit crumble (or crisp) is super simple — it's just sweet, juicy fruit topped with a buttery, crunchy topping. Here's how to do it:

🍎 Basic Fruit Crumble or Crisp

1. Prepare the fruit filling:

  • Use about 4–6 cups of fresh or frozen fruit (apples, berries, peaches, etc.).

  • Toss with:

    • 2–4 tablespoons sugar (depending on how sweet the fruit is)

    • 1–2 tablespoons flour or cornstarch (to thicken the juices)

    • A pinch of salt

    • Optional: a splash of lemon juice, cinnamon, or vanilla

Spread the fruit evenly in a greased baking dish.

2. Make the crumble topping:

Mix in a bowl:

  • ¾ cup flour

  • ½ cup rolled oats (for crisp-style; skip oats for a pure crumble)

  • ⅓–½ cup brown sugar

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

  • ½ cup cold butter, cut into cubes

Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work the butter in until the mixture is crumbly and coarse.

3. Assemble and bake:

  • Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit.

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–45 minutes, until the top is golden and the fruit is bubbling.

Let it cool slightly before serving — and yes, it’s amazing with vanilla ice cream. 🍨
