Microwave Method

The easiest way to steam vegetables is by using a microwave or stovetop method. Here's how to do both:

🥦 Microwave Method (Fast & Easy!)

  1. Chop veggies evenly so they cook at the same rate.

  2. Place them in a microwave-safe bowl.

  3. Add 2–3 tablespoons of water.

  4. Cover the bowl with a microwave-safe lid, plate, or plastic wrap (leave a small gap for steam to escape).

  5. Microwave on high for 2–5 minutes, depending on the veggie and how tender you want it.

  6. Carefully remove the cover (watch out for steam!) and enjoy.

Best for: Broccoli, carrots, green beans, zucchini, spinach

🥕 Stovetop Method (No Special Equipment Needed)

  1. Fill a pot with 1–2 inches of water.

  2. Place a colander or steaming basket over the pot, making sure it doesn’t touch the water.

  3. Bring the water to a boil.

  4. Add chopped vegetables to the steamer.

  5. Cover the pot and steam for 3–8 minutes, until veggies are tender but still bright.

Best for: Cauliflower, peas, asparagus, sweet potatoes

🔥 Quick Tips

  • Don’t over-steam! Veggies should be tender but still vibrant and a bit crisp.

  • Add herbs, lemon juice, or a pinch of salt after steaming for flavor.

  • Steam in batches if you're making large portions to ensure even cooking.
